Welcome to the Australian Respiratory Early Surveillance Team for Cystic Fibrosis (AREST CF) website.
Our site is currently being redeveloped.
AREST CF is a group of doctors, allied health professionals and
scientists who are researching ways to prevent lung disease in
infants and children with cystic fibrosis.
By preventing lung disease early in life we believe that individuals with cystic fibrosis will live longer, more fulfilling lives.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition that affects
approximately 1 in every 2800 babies in Australia. CF affects
many of the body's organs including the lungs and digestive
tract.
Of all the organs affected, chronic lung disease is the most serious complication of CF and is the most common cause of death.
