Dr. Sutanto completed her degrees at the University of Western Australia, majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology. As part of her doctorate research at the Lions Eye Institute, she investigated the potential of cell-specific gene transfer method to restore missing or dysfunctional gene expression(s) in the epithelium of the eyes and has since kept her interests at cell biology and molecular biology aspects of research. At the end of 2004, she joined TICHR after completing her doctorate research. In line with the epithelial’s group focus, her current role is to look at the potential of using CF airway epithelium to study the inflammatory profiles of these cells in both basal and stimulated conditions and to look at the wound repair capacity of CF cells compare to healthy cells.
